Look! Up in the sky!

"The full Moon is going to get totally eclipsed on the night of February 20–21, putting on a gorgeous show as it glides through Earth's shadow. Skywatchers in nearly the entire Western Hemisphere will get an excellent view.

"In the Americas, the eclipse happens during convenient evening hours on Wednesday, the 20th, when people are up and about. In the time zones of Europe and West Africa, the eclipse happens during the early-morning hours of Thursday, the 21st.

"Earth’s shadow will totally engulf the Moon from 10:00 to 10:52 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, or 7:00 to 7:52 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, as shown at lower right. The partial phases of the eclipse last for about an hour and a quarter before and after totality."

  1. It's snowing here! We have clouds! No moon! *waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!*Now if it had been LAST night, like I thought it was – and kept watching for it!!! – then the sky would have been clear and perfect. Nooooooooooo, it had to be tonight. Phooey! Will you be able to see it? Will you tell us how it goes?

Is it ok to look at a lunar eclipse? Or is that the one that you shouldn't look at because it'll burn your retinas???It's cloudy here in Philly — but if my retinas won't get burned, I'll have to remember to try to see it.

  3. Aren't you getting snow? We still have a lot of flurrying going on…..

  4. *waves to Peg of Tilling*BTW — I was soo excited about this eclipse yesterday (that wasn't yesterday!!) that I drew a picture about it – Here (just another Vox site),

  5. YGRS says:

hmm…I don't know for sure. I'm just kind of ignoring it and hoping it'll go away or melt before I leave work in another hour or so.it was teeny tiny flurrying earlier, but nothing that was sticking.I'll have to go look at your eclipse picture when I have a minute. ( in your picture, can you see you and me and Peg staring up at it and trying to NOT burn our retinas???)

  6. No, but I'll be happy to draw you in, if you want– very easy……….!OH!!! I'm sorry I mentioned the flurries- that's alll it was really and it's not sticking here either. It's just really cloudy and flurries every once in a whilel! But it's supposed to stop. ((worktravelhugs))

  7. YGRS says:

Peg — I forgot to mention — I love your Valentine kitty banner! ( captions are great!)&:o)
