It's been a busy month–I finally had a Saturday with nothing planned, nothing due…aah.
I got to go to the Met HD broadcast at the local googleplex this afternoon, the second one I've been able to go to this season. If you're at all interested in that sort of thing, it's really fun–it's the video broadcast of the Met's Saturday matinee, live, so you get the crowd reaction and a bit of backstage action too, like the bucket of mints on the stage manager's console or the time one of the stagehands dropped something and said Crap. Today was La Fille du Regiment, a very fun show, with Juan Diego Flores, the new Met darling tenor, who made the aria with the nine high Cs look easy. It's a pricey, $20 a ticket, but it's subtitled and you can have popcorn so it's easy to watch.
