Product cuteness!

Some of the cupcakes in this book are really, really cute–I want to make the sunflower cupcakes that use Oreos as the flower centers real soon now. The "creations anyone can make" in a craft book subtitle always makes me go suuure… but here the authors do try to put the anyone in anyone, recommending ziplock bags with cut corners instead of pastry bags and tips* and using candy for eyes and corn kernels and whatnot.

*The authors suggest putting frosting in ziplock bags, reinforcing the corners with tape to keep them stiff, then cutting a tiny wedge out of the corner to make leaves or the fur that's on the pup-cakes in the picture. This seems like it would work, but if you make a lot of cupcakes, or want to squirt (technical term) different shapes of frosting from one bag, you might want to go with tips and couplers–they're easy enough to use and not that expensive.

Wow. Edible art. They look very fun to eat. Fun to make???(Snorts bitterly)Gotta tell this:Once, when walking down the hall at work, I spied on the floor a lone, fallen post-it note. On it, all that was written, in a masculine handwriting style, was, "Cupcake 856-4731"(Evil laughterrrrrrr!)
