It’s for a kid who’s having his birthday party at a corn maze…a little mojo for not dropping it during delivery, please!

  1. oh my STARS! You are amazing. You truly are. This looks wonderful! Sending good thoughts for the delivery. (Was going to send good vibes, but they vibrate, which is not something you want just now…)

    Lol at Beth!
It’s fantastic! I’m crossing my fingers for a safe delivery.

  3. Laurie says:

Seriously awesome! How big a leaf tip did you use to make those husks?

    • pegoftilling says:

Thank you! I used my biggest leaf tip and used it once with the narrow end pointed to the right and then with the narrow end to the left, so each corn leaf took two passes…does that make sense?

      • Laurie says:

I don’t think I quite get it, but it’s still totally amazing. Tonight, I rolled Tootsie Roll bits into tiny little cannon to put on pirate ship cakelets I want to finish up this Saturday.

      • pegoftilling says:

Tiny cannon! that’s ambitious! can’t wait to see them!

Imagine a corn leaf is laid out flat in front of you, with the thick center vein in the middle–I’m using the leaf tip so the thin end is on the right edge of the leaf, and I go from bottom to top so I can taper off at the top of the leaf. I do one side, then I turn the tip over so the thick end is still in the middle of the leaf, but the thin end is on the left edge of the leaf, and then go bottom to top again. Does that help or just make it muddier?

      • Laurie says:

Muddier, I’m afraid, but it’s the end of a long day and I’ve already taken my sleep aid. Do you use the old #68 style leaf tip, or the newer #352 type? I inherited my mom’s old leaf tips, but tind the new one much easier to use. I could never get proper points on my leaves with the older one.

      • Laurie says:

Oh, now I get it. It’s a petal tip, not a leaf tip. It was the narrow end that was tripping me up, because leaf tips are symmetrical and that one isn’t. The penny finally drops.

Holy cow! That a-maize-ing! You are so creative.

I love it! Now I’m hungry for cake…
